In case you were wondering where this obsession with old barns, silos, farmhouses, even railroad tracks and trains comes from… it’s genetic.
This is an album my grandpa put together.
I remember being in the car with him and he’d point out old chimneys and falling down houses, telling us what he knew about the history of it.
This is probably where my fascination with silos began. Right here with this one.
Unlike grandpa, I don’t usually know much about the barns and farmhouses I photograph. But I am enthralled by them nonetheless.
And while I don’t get to photograph many trains out here… part of the reason this once bustling resort town fell into obscurity is the lack of railroad access… I’m still in love with trains because my grandpa worked for Frisco.
… and apparently shuttled FDR from Memphis to wherever his journey took him. How cool is that?
I can’t top that…
